The latest SHA256 hashed certificates are used by the Sepsis Data Collection Portal for the encryption of all data being transferred from a site visitor to the server. The following Web browsers support SHA256 certificates (but please see the note below):
- Internet Explorer 7+ with Windows XP SP3+ (Please note IE browsers depends on the Operating System)
- Safari with Mac OS X 10.5+
- Firefox 1.5+
- Netscape 7.1+
- Mozilla 1.4+
- Opera 9.0+
- Konqueror 3.5.6+
- Mozilla based browsers 3.8+
- Chrome 26+
Note for Mac and Windows XP users: While Macs running Mac OS X 10.5+ support the newer SHA256 hashing algorithm, Chrome and Safari users may experience difficulty verifying the root certificate. If you are a Mac OS X 10.5+ user having trouble with the site certificate and receiving a security error, we recommend using the latest Firefox browser for Mac OS. Windows XP users using Internet Explorer 7/8 may experience similar issues and if so, we recommend using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
